Tellwut Review
If you’ve never heard of survey sites, then let me explain them to you. These sites offer an incentive to you for giving your opinion in surveys and other types of marketing research about products and services you have tried. The sites are free to join and you can get cash, gift cards, sweepstakes entries, digital gifts, and other types of compensation for donating your time to complete surveys.
Paid survey sites can be a great way of making a little extra money. Survey sites are perfect for those who stay at home and are looking to make a little something on the side to help pay the electric bill or treat the family to a movie.
You can participate when you want to and turn down surveys if you don’t feel like completing them at the time. It’s totally up to you; you can earn at your own pace.
While these survey sites can be lots of fun, you have to be careful about fraudulent sites. Some of the survey sites are complete scams, while others who used to be known as legit, are no longer paying out.
This is a review of one of those sites, Tellwut, which stands for ”Tell what you think” and I’m going to let you know if this site is legit or a scam.
Is Tellwut a real company?
Tellwut is a popular survey site. It ranks very high on the SurveyPolice website (I like to glance there first before going on to the survey site itself).
As soon as I clicked on the Tellwut main page, I noticed they have a ”follow us” section which alerts users that you can follow them on a variety of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Tumblr to name a few.
This leads me to believe this site is a legit paid survey site. Members have several social platforms on which to complain if they’re having problems with the site.
Tellwut is an exclusive research and survey panel based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As of June 2017, the site was listed as third out of 172 survey sites on the Approved Panel List conducted by SurveyPolice. Members can complete any and all surveys and will not be disqualified from any survey they attempt to take. Currently Tellwut has a membership of over 450,000.
How to start with Tellwut
On Tellwut, members earn points by taking surveys, creating polls, and inviting friends. Once clicking on ”Create Account”, you are sent to fill out a short membership application for which you earn 100 points for doing so confirming your email.
You then receive another 150 points for completing the registration process. From then on, you earn points by completing surveys, most of which are super short, earning 10-15 points each.
Rewards are provided via gift cards once you gain 4000 points or the equivalent of $10. Gift cards can be chosen in varying amounts according to how many points you have accumulated. Rewards can be redeemed via Amazon, Home Depot, Subway, Walmart, and Starbucks, just to name a very few.
Can you earn more from sharing your opinion? To do so you need to read our Quest Mindshare review, My Points review, and Point2Shop review.
Tellwut Pros and Cons
You can start earning points immediately just by creating an account and completing registration. Earn points for referring friends, too. You can then take all the surveys you want to; there is no limit.
There also is no disqualifying from surveys like there are on most other survey sites. Surveys are typically about 10-15 minutes each and earn 10-15 points. But there are longer surveys and some that earn more points. In addition, Tellwut offers weekly contests that may help increase your points.
The site runs its own blog and even pays members who wish to contribute to it. Also, Tellwut is active on social media and members can private message one another if they want.
The redeeming amount of points is quite high at 4000, or the equivalent of $10. Members complain that it takes too much time to accumulate enough points to redeem, saying you would have to play avidly and daily in order to reach the 4000 mark in a decent amount of time.
You can’t get direct cash payments or even PayPal reimbursements, but can only redeem for gift cards. Members and friends of members also complained that their accounts had been closed for little to no reason. This is quite a common complaint. Second only to the payout being so hard to reach.
Additionally, members have to put up with loads of advertisements, an average of 2-3 per page, which distracts from the surveys. Only one member per household can have an account and rewards are only redeemable in United States and Canada. So if you live outside of these countries, you’ll be doing surveys for free if you do them at all.
Is Tellwut a scam website?
While this site is completely legitimate, I’m not sure I would recommend it. I had high hopes when I first saw it’s rating with SurveyPolice. But as far as survey sites go, there are way more scams than not. Being ranked high on the list suggests the fact that it’s a legit survey site.
If you have plenty of time to spend online taking surveys, then you might want to try this one. However, if you are only going to be sporadically taking surveys, another site with higher paid surveys and a lower redeeming amount would probably be better for you.
Bottom line, Tellwut is not a scam. It just takes a long time and a lot of patient to earn enough for redeeming points for gift cards of your choice.
